>>News from the Student Subcommittee: Call for Applications!

The student subcommittee hosted two very successful open houses at the McMaster Health Forum this week, and we were very excited about the eagerness and interest shown by students during the short presentation, question period and tour of the Forum. This past summer, the student subcommittee underwent a strategic planning process, and as a result we are pleased to announce that many exciting opportunities on the student subcommittee are available for the 2012-2013 academic year.

This year, we will be recruiting nine general members, one finance coordinator, one community relations coordinator and one multimedia specialist.

  1. Finance Coordinator – for students interested in a career in business or finance, this position includes managing the subcommittee’s annual budget and promoting the long-term financial sustainability of the subcommittee through fundraising and sponsorship.  This position requires strong budget planning experience, fundraising skills, and attention to detail.
  2. Community Relations Coordinator – for students interested in pursuing a career in public relations, community management or marketing, this position involves managing a marketing and community building strategy, building the subcommittee’s online community using social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and a blog), and requires excellent communication skills and strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  3. Multimedia Specialist – for students looking to build their multimedia portfolio within a high-profile organization, this position requires experience in graphic design layout, proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere), working knowledge of videography (including production and post-production editing skills) and photography skills.
  4. General Member– for students who have a keen knowledge or interest in health topics and are looking to gain experience in leading and supporting event planning, this position requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work both individually and as part of a motivated team in a fast-paced work environment.
